Olympism

To me, Olympism is using sports to promote teamwork, friendship & sportsmanship. Olympism is not a system, but is a state of mind, blending sports with culture & education. When atheletes from all over the world come together to participate in a game, they meet new people & also gained precious experience which allows them to become a better player. Olympism allows people to strengthen their inner self & sportsmanship as players will encounter different situations at different times. In my opinion, there is no exact meaning of what olympism is. It is based on how each person views it as. There is sure to be many other meanings of Olympism out there & i do hope everyone can apply the "spirits" of Olympism in our daily life.

SPORTSMANSHIP

What Is Sportsmanship Sportsmanship mean to me is as:
1.playing fair
2.following the rules of the game
3.respecting the judgment of referees and officials
4.treating opponents with respect
5.Practicing Good Sportsmanship we need:

1.Learn as much as you can about your sport. Play by its rules. Show up for practice, work hard, and realize that on a team, everyone deserves a chance to play.

2.Talk politely and act courteously toward everyone before, during, and after games and events. That includes your teammates, your opponents, your coaches and their coaches, the officials presiding over the game, and even spectators (who can sometimes be loud about their opinions).

3.Stay cool. Even if others are losing their tempers, it doesn't mean you have to. Remind yourself that no matter how hard you've practiced and played, it is, after all, just a game.

4.Avoid settling disputes with violence. If you're in a difficult situation or someone's threatening you, seek help immediately from your coach or from an official. Remember, too, that if you respond with violence you could get penalized, which could hurt your chances of winning.

5.Cheer your teammates on with positive statements — and avoid trash-talking the other team.

6.Acknowledge and applaud good plays, even when someone on the other team makes them.

7.When officials make a call, accept it gracefully even if it goes against you. Remember that referees may not be right every time — but they're people who are doing their best, just as you are.

8.Whether you win or lose, congratulate your opponents on a game well played.

CCA experience

I have participated in the Singapore Youth Festival(SYF) for chinese dance. After all the practises and trainings for weeks and months, we have achieved a Gold with honours. Through all the months and achivements, we have learnt that hard work is essential for every success. Without hard work, it is totally impossible to succeed. That goes the same for everything that we do. Even sports. Also we felt that the amount of time spent on it is not the main reason that we achieved a Gold with honours. But it is the quality time that is spent on it. Everyone made use of every single practise to train hard. Our dance practise is every wednesday from 3.30 -6. Although it is not alot but everyone gained alot from each other and every dance practise counts. Lastly, we felt that team work is very important as, if one person forgets the dance steps, the whole team is sabotaged. Ever single one in the team is important. If one is not working well, the whole team suffers.

PE lesson on floorball

For the last 5weeks, we have learnt how to play floorball. For the first week,we learnt the rules of the floorball games and learn how to hold the stick properly. For the second week, we learnt basic static passes and how to play as a team. For the third week, we played a match against other teams in the hall. We got into the finals and we won! We were very happy because we had extra period of PE lesson as Mr Ng was absent and Mr Shi relief us.For the fourth week, Mr Ng was present and he tested us on our strategies such as passing and shooting skills. On the fifth week, we played another round of match but this time, it was boys against boys and girls against girls.altogether, we have learnt to have team work and we have already learnt how to play floorball.During the game, we felt that sportsmanship is very important. As sports is not only about winning the game but the process.-i think we can improve the PE lesson by practising outside other than school hours. Also, the teacher should make the lesson more interesting by playing in a more spacious condition.
